The quality of care offered freely since 1959 to more than 60,000 children with special educational needs made the World Association of Special Education (AMEE) conferred the award World Hope to the Ministry of Education of Cuba (MINED) in 2014.
Special education in Cuba is conceived as a system of schools, care modalities, resources, assistance, counseling and training to support students at risk groups with special educational needs and also support its families, educators and environment .
