The Cuban insular platform it’s made by an extensive coral reef where biodiversity and the beauty attract experts and fans of diving.
Marlin Nauticas and Marinas Cuba Organization has various International Diving Centers, as:
“La Aguja” in the Residential Marina Hemingway in Havana
“Barracuda” in Varadero
“The Shark’s Friends” in St. Lucia
“Cayo Largo” on the Isle of Youth.
Located in privileged areas of the Cuban island, the CIB offers the possibility of taking introductory courses and diving specialties on internationally standardized technical conditions for the practice of this activity.
Cuba also develops the International Underwater Photography Event (FOTOSUB) that takes place annually in “Cayo Largo del Sur” and is held in Cuba since 1982 when The Colony Hotel was the host of the first FOTOSUB, and from then on several events of international character were carried out in the eighties and nineties in Cuba.
In 2007, the Cuban Federation of Underwater Activities (FCAS) retakes these events with national character and in 2009 the Cuban Ministry of Tourism through the company MARLIN S.A., with advice of FCAS, summoned the photographers and certificated models to the International Competition of Underwater photography “FOTOSUB Colony 2009”.
The FOTOSUB has been celebrated annually after 2009 with the participation of many countries, specialized press and having as headquarter the Hotel Colony and the Punta Frances zone.
